August 31, 2015 by rapid! PayCard

With an entire business dedicated to payroll, we always look forward to this annual celebration! National Payroll Week (NPW) is an awareness campaign that recognizes industry professionals. It also stands to drive the attention of our country’s workforce to details about payroll and employee benefits, as well as the withholding system itself. We are a country known internationally for being the home of “The American Dream.” From those businesses, built by generations of families and the jobs we work every day, comes each person’s contribution to the U.S. Treasury’s annual revenue; contributions collected via payroll systems. As hard-working Americans we are not only supporting our families, but our payroll deductions… Read More

New Law Brings Payroll Cards to Georgia

May 29, 2015 by rapid! PayCard

On May 5, 2015, Governor Nathan Deal signed Senate Bill 88 (SB 88) into law making Georgia the twenty-third state to expressly address the use of payroll cards in its wage payment statutes. The bill, which amends section 34-7-2 of the Office Code of Georgia Annotated, became effective upon signing. The new law allows employers to pay wages and salary by credit to a payroll card account so long as employees are provided with a written explanation of any fees associated with the account. This explanation must be provided at least thirty days before the employer first implements a payroll card program. Once the program is implemented, the written explanation… Read More

Update on State Payroll Card Legislation

April 28, 2015 by rapid! PayCard

That number is continuing to increase and data is showing that the demographics are shifting as well. From millennials to their parents, more people are starting to use prepaid cards for a variety of reasons. Prepaid cards have long had the reputation of being a financial tool for the economically less fortunate, or disadvantaged, but times have changed… Read More
