How to Prevent Surcharges

Thursday, March 18, 2010 by rapid! Staff

One of the most common questions associated with pay cards is, “How can I withdraw money out of an ATM without paying a surcharge fee?”

Surcharges are fees imposed on consumers who use ATMs to withdraw cash who are not part of that ATM’s network or bank. ATM surcharge fees can be as low as $1 or $2 or has high as $7 to $10. You can easily spend 10% of the amount you want to withdraw in surcharge fees.

How can you prevent surcharge fees? Find an ATM in your network that will not charge surcharge fees and plan ahead to avoid ATM’s in networks that you do not belong to.

rapid! PayCard belongs to the Allpoint network of surcharge free ATM’s, with over 37,000 surcharge free ATM’s in the United States, making 1 in every 12 ATM’s an Allpoint ATM. Allpoint ATM’s are found where you shop, such as Target, Sears, Walgreen’s, 7 Eleven, Sunoco and many more.

With a little planning you can save more of your pay.
